What is iGaming Ontario and what does it do?

iGaming Ontario (iGO) is the provincial agency that commercially manages Ontario's regulated online gambling market — the one that lets private casino and betting operators legally serve players in the province. Where it came from

iGaming Ontario was established in July 2021, originally as a lottery subsidiary corporation of the AGCO, and became an independent agency as of May 2025. What iGO actually does

The AGCO is the regulator for the province, while iGaming Ontario is the commercial "conduct and manage" entity. That distinction matters. • Implementing and overseeing reconciliation of igaming revenues on behalf of the province.

• Establishing a dispute resolution process to respond to customer concerns.

iGO transfers most of its earnings in the form of a dividend to the Province of Ontario's Consolidated Revenue Fund.

What iGO is not

iGaming Ontario does not conduct or manage online gaming at OLG.ca, which is offered by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). OLG operates independently under its own mandate. So when you see the iGaming Ontario logo on a site, you're looking at a privately operated platform — not OLG.
